The Fort Bend Symphony Announces New Chorus Director


The Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra and Chorus has announced the appointment of Adam J. Hightower-Moreno as the new director of the organization’s chorus. The appointment is effective with the 2019-2029 symphony season.

In addition to his duties with FBSOC, Mr. Hightower-Moreno will continue as the Head Choir Director at Alief Elsik High School in Houston. His responsibilities at Alief Elsik include overseeing a program of five choirs and a music theory course.

Mr. Hightower-Moreno’s responsibilities with FBSOC will include directing the Fort Bend Symphony Chorus, developing choral music programs for the community, and assisting the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra with outreach to the community.

He has been invited to conduct and lead clinics for numerous choral ensembles, including the Phi Mu Alpha Men of Song Chorus and Texas Choral Directors Association Convention and Reading Sessions. Mr. Hightower-Moreno was a finalist in the 2007 Undergraduate division of the American Choral Directors Association Student Conducting Competition. He also worked with the Huntsville Children’s Choir, while serving on the Board of Directors concurrently.

Adam holds degrees in choral conducting and music education from the Henry and Leigh Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois (MMus.) and Sam Houston State University, in Huntsville, Texas (BMus.). His professional affiliations include American Choral Directors Association, Texas Music Educators Association, Pi Kappa Lambda-National Music Honor Society, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity.

The Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra and Chorus is in its twenty-eighth year of bringing outstanding concerts to Fort Bend and surrounding communities.
